A timber play frame and climbing wall built into the garden

Not every job is a room. This is a one-off timber play structure built around an existing tree in a garden — a raised platform with a monopitch roof over it, a slatted screen wall below, climbing holds and a rope ladder, all in treated softwood.

Building around a mature tree means nothing can be fixed to it and the frame has to stand on its own, set into the ground clear of the roots. The slatted screen is spaced so it can't be climbed through, the holds are through-bolted rather than screwed, and every exposed edge is eased. It's the sort of job that comes from a client asking whether we'd have a go at it.
